Its not just about Attitude but Aptitude that takes you to the ultimate Altitude!!!

An orator by nature, & someone who is passionate about Internet. Thats me... :P

I was elated to discover that my technical writing skills were intact & appreciably good.

Just after Tekzone (Tech fest... BCA-SNDT), the time when my comrades & me were exhausted & needed a break came to our campus a recruitment team from Directi Internet Solutions. 1st March was not just another day. For a change our class was debating on study related topics. Cacaphonic though, the words like Objects, classes and other OOPs concepts sounded great! Then came in Ms. Gargi Chakravarthy who threw light on what exactly they were looking for. They were looking out for someone with good communication skills and someone to accept challenges.

Finally, the team came in. We stood up & wished them a very Good morning to demonstrate the respect that we have for our prospective employers. They were flabbergasted! They asked us if they looked that old. :D A bunch of youngster in their 20’s had come to interview us.

One of them was Manisha, who made a statement that is worth remembering. She said, “You call me madam & I charge you Rs. 50.” Nobody called her madam after that. We were all set for the Pre-placement talk. They presented in front of us the profile of Directi. Post the seminar, interested students were asked to wait. I waited with 36 other girls who were also applying for the same job.

Our Resumes were shuffled & we were sent to another room for Round -1 (Group Discussion). The topic given was “Should pornography be legalized in India?” I spoke in congruence to the topic. :P

After the GD round, the results were announced. I was short listed & sent for the Written Communication Round with 12 other girls. Each one was competitive enough to make it to the Personal Interview Round.

Round – 2 demanded good writing skills. I was skeptical about my writing skills till then. We were given 6 essay topics out of which we had to choose one & write about it. I chose the topic “Knowledge comes not from education but from practical experience!” My essay talked a lot about successful people right from Dhirubhai Ambani to Bill Gates. In the same round we were asked to write a formal letter.

Again results were announced. Four of my friends could not make it to the final round. We were informed about the last & final round (Personal Interview Round). This round demanded Technical skills as well as Communication skills. Finally… I was fortunate enough to be selected.

After the whole day’s experience… I learnt that “It is not just about attitude but aptitude that takes you to the ultimate altitude!”

Hackers & ME!!!

Its been more than a month that I have started working & I have been wanting to write a Blog since then... Its got nothing to do with my work. I am enjoying it though...
In my Final year BCA... I had been a part of this Research Project on Hacking. This project demanded a lot of reading. I read, read & read!!! I burnt the midnight oil & read... Guess what??? I was not tired at all. That happened to me for the first time in my life. heehee. May be I loved doing what I was doing.

Dont take this as a stupid blog & stop reading! Its got some information on Hacking & Hackers too.

This morning, Tanaya & me were discussing about Hacking & hackers, which reminded me that I had a great time reading about Hackers. I started reading the articles on wikipedia and webopedia on Hacking. It was like a revision. Heehee.
Chalo yaar bahut ho gaya circumlocution. Ahem ahem... coming back to the topic... Hacking & Hackers...

Definitions of hackers:

A
hacker is a computer enthusiast. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker )

A slang term for a computer enthusiast, i.e., a person who
enjoys learning programming languages and computer systems and can often be considered an expert on the subject(s). ( http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/hacker.html )

If you check out these definitions, you'll notice that they talk about Hackers as a Computer enthusiast. They dont talk about Hackers as criminals. But today, most of us view a Hacker as a mere criminal. Unfortunately, these guys get into illegal stuff & spoil the Hacker community's name. Today, people take umbrage in being called a Hacker. Isnt it strange???

I am sure all of us might have seen the movie Dhoom 2. The villian in the movie is a Hacker. Its very important to know the real meaning of a Hacker. A technically sound guy is a Hacker. It would be the best day in my life if I get to meet a Hacker like Hritik Roshan

Jokes apart, during my reading phase (Research work), I found out that there was a man in the US (Dont remember his name) who was a Hacker (ie a Technically sound guy). But, that guy was using his knowledge for illegal purposes. Later, the Doctors discovered that he was suffering from a mental disease. Most of the techy types suffer from this particular disease that makes them use their knowledge for illegal or legal purposes. These guys just want to be famous. FAME is their motive. They want to leave a mark in the world. Do you relate to this character? That means... you are suffering from that disease too!

Yes... Hritik Roshan's character in Dhoom 2 is inspired from this guy. These guys are called Black Hats (that is they are the bad boys in the Hacking business) & their counterparts are called White Hats who are supposed to be the good guys of the Hacking world!

Be a White hat & enjoy life. Use your knowledge to help the world. Love the world & let the world love you for what you are! The country needs the techy guys to progress. Take pride in being called a Hacker. Until then... HAPPY HACKING!!!
